Police recovered two bodies from inside a car parked in the basement of Sirajul Islam Medical College in Dhaka’s Mouchak.
Security guards discovered the bodies around 11:45am on Monday.
They found the bodies inside a white private car and alerted Ramna Police Station, according to Masud Alam, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna Division.
“We have found two bodies whose identities are still unknown. The cause of death is not immediately clear,” Masud said.
Quoting hospital staff, the officer said the vehicle entered the parking area around 5:30am on Sunday, with the driver saying it was carrying a patient. After parking the vehicle, the driver left the premises, and the car remained there overnight.
By Monday noon, security personnel became suspicious, seeing people inside the car but getting no response when they knocked on the windows, prompting them to reach out to police.
DMP Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman said a forensic team from the Criminal Investigation Department was working at the scene.
“Details are still unknown,” he added.
The car’s registration number is Dhaka Metro Ga 36-3745.
Initial checks on the number plate revealed to police that the owner is Zubair Ahmed Sourav and the driver was identified by a single name as Nizam.
Of the two deceased, one of the bodies was found in the driver’s seat and the other was in the back seat.
