Engine trouble forces Biman plane to make emergency landing in Chattogram

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Singapore has made an emergency landing in Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport after experiencing an engine problem.

All passengers and crew members of the BG-085 flight are safe after the Boeing 737-800 landed in the airport without any trouble, Shakil Meraj, a general manager of the flag carrier, told bdnews24.com.  

"The flight from Singapore was scheduled to land in Dhaka at 5:20pm. But the pilot made an emergency landing at Shah Amanat Airport after detecting a problem with the engine."

The plane touched down at the Shah Amanat International Airport at 5:40pm, said Khairul Kabir, acting manager of the airport.

There was a problem with the plane's left engine, he told bdnews24.com.

"All necessary precautions were taken at the airport to avoid any unwanted situation. The 99 passengers in the plane are safe," said Shakil.

The passengers of the flight will be flown to Dhaka in a replacement plane, he added.
