The incident occurred at the Kutupalong Lambashia-1 Rohingya Camp on Friday, said Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Md Afruzul Haq Tutul.

The deceased was identified as Md Yakub Ali, 45, who fled Myanmar and was taking refuge at the camp. The body has been handed over to the family.

The injured, Yakub’s wife Anwara Begum, 40, and their son, 12, have received medical treatment at the camp.

“A wild elephant managed to enter the Kutupalong Lambashia Rohingya camp. Yakub was trampled as he slept.”

Six Rohingyas, including two children, were killed in wild elephant attacks at the Kutupalong camp last year.
