Approximately 19 years of age, his body was found nearly 25 feet away from the manhole he had used to climb down into the sewers at Nilgoti Road of Chalantika intersection.

Rescuers recovered the body around 3pm on Wednesday, said Mirpur Fire Service Station officer Abdullah Al Arefin.

The Fire Service's search for the boy continued until 10pm Tuesday. It was resumed in the morning.

The boy was tasked by workers of a nearby garment factory to clean the sewer line, Arefin had said quoting witnesses on Tuesday.

"Witnesses here said the boy removed some waste inside the sewer causing the water flow to rapidly increase. The boy was sucked in by that flow."

His body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College for autopsy, said Rupnagar Police Station OC Syed Shahid Alam.
