Chittagong airport closed for three hours after navy aircraft skids off the runway

All flight operations at Chittagong's Shah Amanat International Airport have resumed three hours after an accident involving an aircraft of Bangladesh Navy.

Officials said the airport was shut down after "the plane went off the runway as it was coming in to land on Thursday afternoon".

However, there were no casualties, they said.

Wing Commander Mohammad Reazul Kabir, the Airport Manager,  told bdnews24.com, "The naval aircraft had veered off the runway during landing."

All operational activities were suspended at 5:47pm, he said. "But they resumed at 9pm."

Airport control room officials said as many as five domestic flights and two international flights were delayed between those three hours.
