The fire broke out around 3pm Sunday, said Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge at Darus Salam Police Station.

“The fire has damaged some shanties as well but no-one was hurt,” he told bdnews24.com.

Six fire-fighting units managed to put out the flames after an hour of effort, said Mizanur Rahman, duty officer at Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Authorities are yet to find out the cause of the fire.
