The Rapid Action Battalion arrested the woman, Raushon Akter, 36, and the alleged rapist, 'Yasin', 29, at Munshinganj's Gazaria on Thursday night.

According to the case filed at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka, plaintiff Shah Alam is a businessman. Officer-in-Charge Ganesh Gopal Biswas said Alam started the case on Friday under Prevention of Oppression Against Women and Children Act.

Alam said in the case that his wife Raushon left home with their fifth-grader daughter for Eid shopping before he returned from work last Sunday.

He filed a general diary with Tejgaon Police Station on the following day as Raushon and their daughter had not returned home.

He later phoned Raushon's father, who lives in Comilla, and came to know that his wife and daughter were in Munshiganj.

Alam then sought RAB's help, and the girl was rescued from the house of alleged rapist Yasin's 'so-called' relatives on Thursday night.

Yasin and Raushon were arrested, but some other relatives fled the house, Alam said in the case.

Quoting the child, he said her mother took her to Farmagate in the capital on last Sunday, and some people whisked her into a car. She was taken for a ride and forced to wear a ring. They were moved to Narayanganj where she was raped, she told her father and the RAB officers.

They were moved again to Munshiganj where local people Alam Chan, 52, and Anwara Begum, 47, a local union council member, and a senior influential person of the area arranged the marriage with Yasin.

She said her mother 'assisted them', according to her father, Alam.

Speaking to bdnews24.com, a relative of the girl alleged that Raushon had an extramarital affair with Yasin and she wanted to keep him nearby marrying her daughter off to him.

The girl has been sent to police's Victim Support Centre and Raushon and Yasin to court.
