The Council in a statement on Saturday urged the people of the three districts - Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban - to take part in the strike.

Violent protests over the murder of the Jubo League leader, Nurul Islam Nayan, on June 1 saw hundreds of houses of the ethnic minority people in Langadu vandalised and torched the following day.

Police arrested two Chakma youths over the murder from Chittagong and Khagrachhari and recovered Nayan's motorcycle from the Maini River in Dighinala on Saturday.

The law enforcers said the duo admitted to the crime linked to the hijacking of the motorcycle.
