The verdict was announced by Manikganj District and Sessions Judge Mizanur Rahman on Tuesday.

The convicts are Harirampur Upazila residents Abdur Razzak, 30, Samir Uddin, 26, and Mofzel Miah, 28. Mofzel is currently absconding.

Each convict has also been ordered to pay a fine of Tk 20,000. Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional six month in jail.

According to the case documents, Harirampur Bolora area resident Abdul Halim, 35, went missing on Mar 26, 2014.

Halim’s relatives informed police that he had been involved in a feud with Samir.

Police detained Samir in possession of a motorcycle used by Halim.

During interrogation, he revealed the location of Halim’s body. That day Halim’s widow, Farida Begum, filed a case over the murder.

Police then arrested Razzak, Mofzel and another suspect named ‘Baten’ and submitted the chargesheet on Dec 22 of that year.

Baten died during the course of the trial and Mofzel, who was out on bail, absconded.
