Three dead, at least 35 injured, after bus overturns in Bogra

Three people have died and at least 35 others have been injured after a bus overturned in Bogra.

The accident occurred near the Shimabari bus stand in Sherpur Upazila around 1 am, said Sherpur Fire Service Station official Md Sohel Rana.

The deceased have been identified as Md Tarek, 27, and Md Karim, 25, from Mondulpara in Gaibandha’s Saghata and Saiful Islam, 35, from Kheyaghaat.

A bus heading from Gaibandha to Dhaka went out of control near the bus stand.

“The bus overturned by the highway and three died on the spot. At least 35 others are injured.”

The injured have been admitted to local hospitals including Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra for treatment.

Traffic on the highway was halted after the accident, but returned to normal after police arrived at the scene, said Sherpur Police Station OC Khan Mohammad Erfan.

Three Sherpur and Raiganj Upazila fire service and civil defence units recovered the bus, the OC said. The bus driver and his assistants have not been found at this time.
