He was taken to the private chamber of Metropolitan Magistrate Nur Nabi on Sunday where he made the confession.

Police arrested Mizan alias Boro Mizan from Banani level crossing in the capital on Feb 28. He was taken on remand in a case under the Anti-Terror Act.

Intelligence officials have questioned him in remand twice over the Gulshan attack case.

Court police's Sub-Inspector Farid Mia said: "Mizan gave detail information on how the weapons and grenades were carried to Holey Artisan bakery that day."

Police claim Mizan heads a unit of JMB which is responsible for providing it arms and explosives.

According to police, neo-JMB operatives stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery at Dhaka's upscale Gulshan on Jul 1 last year and killed 20 people including 17 foreigners.

Two police officials got killed by grenades hurled by the militants.

The next morning police recovered the bodies. Six suspects including five gunmen were dead in the commando operations

One AK-22 rifle, some locally-made weapons and explosives were seized from the spot.

Police said Mizan was the defence commander of a militant group 'Junud Al Tawhid' before joining neo-JMB.

Gulshan attack mastermind Tamim Chowdhury recruited him to Neo-JMB.

Mizan had developed an arms smugglers ring at Shibganj border in Chapainawabganj which used to supply neo-JMB necessary arms and explosives.

Police's Counter-Terrorism Inspector Humayun Kabir produced Mizan to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Sunday.

He was taken to the magistrate's private chamber after he agreed to confess.
