PM Hasina meets German Chancellor Angela Merkel

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has met German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The bilateral meeting was held on the sidelines of 53rd Munich Security Conference at Hotel Bayerischer Hof on Saturday.

The issues discussed in the meeting between the two leaders were not available immediately. However, both the leaders earlier have expressed their firm stance against terrorism.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, who was also present at the meeting, earlier said the two leaders would discuss improving trade and investment, mitigating risks of climate change, refugee and migration crisis in Europe, global conditions of terrorism and violence.

PM's Principal Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque were also present. 

Hasina went to Germany on Friday on a two-day visit to attend the security conference.

She was scheduled to take part in a luncheon to be hosted by German Defence Minister Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen after meeting Merkel.

She will also attend a panel discussion on climate change. She is scheduled to start for Dhaka later in the night.
