Weather expert Ruhul Kuddus said the third cold spell blew over the country through 12 consecutive days.

While the remote parts of the country experienced it between Jan 12 and Jan 23, the rest of the country reeled under the cold wave from Jan 12-13.

The lowest temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tetulia during this period.

Ruhul said after the third cold snap, the temperature has been rising since Tuesday.

This is expected to continue over the next two days.

But he predicted drizzle or light rains in the northern region over the next week.

He believes the rain could bring temperatures down once again.

The long term forecast for January says moderate (6-8 degrees Celsius), intense (4-6 degrees Celsius)  or low intensity (8-10 degrees Celsius) cold will sweep across the north, northeast, northwest and central regions of the country.
