On Nov 27, clashes erupted at the Fulbarhia Upazila town, when teachers and students of the Fulbarhia Degree College were demonstrating for nationalizing of the institution.

The botany teacher of the college, 50-year-old Abul Kalam Azad, and 70-year-old Fulbarhia resident Safar Ali died when police charged batons to disperse the demonstrators.

Ali's family filed a case of unnatural death the same day.

On Wednesday, the college's Political Science teacher M Abul Hashem, who is the convener of the demonstrators’ platform, lodged the case with a Mymensingh court.

Awami League MP Moslem Uddin, his son Emdadul Haque Selim, Fulbarhia Degree College Principal Nasir Uddin Khan, Vice-Principal Amzad Hossain, Fulbarhia police OC Rifat Khan Rajib and Sub-Inspector Mohammad Rafiqul and several other unidentified persons have been named in the case.

The court has taken the matter into its cognizance, but yet to schedule a hearing, said plaintiff's counsel Golam Hossain.

“It took us some time to lodge the case as we were shocked over the deaths,” said Hashem.

Police have started a case over attack on law enforcers and obstruction of government duty against 300 to 400 unidentified persons.

But the slain teacher's family is yet to file a case.
