A prison inmate has attacked jailer with an iron rod outside Sylhet Central Jail.

Masud Parvez Moin was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment after the incident on Thursday morning, said Senior Jail Superintendent Md Chagir Miah.
“He was tallying inmates at the case desk outside the main gate,” said the superintendent.
“It was at this time that an inmate, Pramad Chandra Das, hit his head with a rod. Das had been sentenced to life in prison for murder.”
“The jailer’s skull was fractured. He was rescued and taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.”
Pramad Chandra is being held in a prison cell. He has been at Sylhet Central Jail since May 5, 2004. He was convicted for murder at Sunamganj’s Dirai Upazila.
A case has been filed at the Kotwali Police Station, said SI Azim Potowari.
Police are currently investigating the scene of the attack, he said.
