Family files case claiming former BCL leader Diyaz was murdered

The family of Chhatra League leader Diyaz Irfan Chowdhury has rejected his autopsy report, which says he committed suicide, and filed a case of murder in court.

The case filed by his mother Jaheda Amin at a senior judicial magistrate's court on Thursday accused ten including Chittagong University's assistant proctor Anwar Hossain and Chhatra League president Alamgir Tipu. 

The others she has accused of killing her son are Jamshedul Alam Chowdhury, Rashedul Alam Jishan, Abu Torab Porosh, Monsur Alam, Abdul Malek, Mizanur Rahman, Ariful Hoque Opu, Mohammad Arman.

The body of Diyaz, assistant secretary of the central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League, was found hanging from the ceiling of his home on Sunday.

His followers claimed that his opponents had killed him due to rivalry over tenders and made it look like suicide.

On Wednesday, they blocked the shuttle train of the university demanding punishment for those involved in the 'murder'.

The autopsy conducted by Chittagong Medical College Hospital on Wednesday said Diyaz committed suicide.

Diyaz's sister Zubeida Sarwar Chowdhury told bdnews24.com the complaints had been lodged under section 302, 201, and 234 of the penal code.

Following the complaints, Senior Judicial Magistrate Shiblu Kumar Deb has ordered CID (criminal investigation department) to submit an investigation report within 30 days.
