The fire service was informed of the fire around 5:50am on Wednesday.

Two units rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after an hour.

“We are yet to find the cause of the fire or the extent of the damages. We will know more, once our team completes the investigation,” Bayezid Fire Station Senior Officer Enamul Haq told bdnews24.com.

One of the buses had been completely incinerated. The other four suffered some degree of fire damage.

There were few people at the depot at the time of the fire because of the Ashura holidays, said BRTC Operations Manager Azhar Ali.

“A committee has been formed to investigate it. They have been told to file their findings as soon as possible,” he said.

The district administration will also launch a probe, said Assistant Commissioner Abdus Samad Sikder.
