The raid on a house in Gazipur's Harinal Paschimparha started early in the morning on Saturday following a tip-off, officials said.

RAB spokesperson Mufti Mahmud Khan confirmed to bdnews24.com that two suspected militants died during the raid.

They were identified as Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) student Touhidul Islam, 22, and 'Rashedul', 20, who passed HSC exam this year.

Law enforcers said an AK-22 rifle, a pistol, 70 rounds bullets, some explosives and a laptop were recovered from the house.

In another raid within half a kilometre of the house, police killed seven suspected militants the same day.

In Tangail, suspected militants shouting 'Allahu Akbar' attacked RAB personnel during a raid on a house, officials said.

RAB-12 commander Shahabuddin Khan said around 3pm that two suspects died when the RAB officials retaliated.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

The elite force recovered 10 machetes, a pistol, a revolver, five bullets, two laptops, two mobile phones and cash from the house.

The bomb disposal unit was also called in but no bomb was found in the house, Khan said.
