Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company (public relations) Manager Mohammad Shahjahan told bdnews24.com gas supply to these areas was stopped from 7am on Friday.

The move follows repair work on a 125 km gas line stretching from Brahmanbarhia’s Ashuganj Upazila to Tangail's Elenga.

The areas that will not get gas supply are Sherpur town, Ghatail Cantonment and Gopalpur Upazila of Tangail, Kishoreganj town, Sharishabarhi Upazila and Tarakandi Union of Jamalpur.

The residents were informed through a prior announcement, Shahjahan said.

“Supply of gas will resume in these areas on Sep 21 after the repair work is over,” he said.

Residents of Sherpur were found arranging alternate options for cooking such as clay stove, kerosene stove and gas cylinders after the announcement.
