The health directorate advises people to avoid working in sunlight for a long period, but rest is a luxury the poor cannot afford
Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company (public relations) Manager Mohammad Shahjahan told bdnews24.com gas supply to these areas was stopped from 7am on Friday.
The move follows repair work on a 125 km gas line stretching from Brahmanbarhia’s Ashuganj Upazila to Tangail's Elenga.
The residents were informed through a prior announcement, Shahjahan said.
“Supply of gas will resume in these areas on Sep 21 after the repair work is over,” he said.
Residents of Sherpur were found arranging alternate options for cooking such as clay stove, kerosene stove and gas cylinders after the announcement.
