Main Eid-ul-Azha prayers timings announced

Keeping with the past years, the main Eid-ul-Azha congregation in capital Dhaka will be held at the National Eidgah Maidan at 8am on Tuesday.

However, the main morning prayers will be held at 8:30am at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in case of inclement weather.
 
Baitul Mukarram’s Senior Pesh Imam Maulana Mohammad Mizanur Rahman will conduct the prayers at the ground, the Islamic Foundation said in a media statement on Monday.
 
People from all social strata, including President Md Abdul Hamid, judges, Cabinet members, MPs and politicians, are expected to join the congregation.
 
Five more Jamaat will also be held separately at Baitul Mukarram at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am and 10:45am on the Eid day.
 
Prayers can be offered in congregation at the Parliament’s South Plaza at 7:30am.
 
Two more Eid prayers will be held at the Dhaka University Central Mosque at 8am and 9am.
 
Saudi Arabia and the other Middle Eastern countries are celebrating the Eid on Monday, as the moon of the Islamic calendar month of Shawwal was not sighted there.
 
Eid is usually celebrated in Bangladesh a day after Saudi Arabia does.
 
The Met Office forecasts that Tuesday will have a sunny morning, when people will attend the Eid prayers and later sacrifice animals in keeping with rituals.

It, however, also predicted that mild showers in the afternoon which will cool down the weather.
 
Dhaka and several other places in the county experienced moderate rainfall on Monday afternoon.
 
Dhaka South City Corporation’s Zone-1 Executive Engineer Munsi Md Abul Hasem told bdnews24.com that they have covered the National Eidgah with waterproof canvas. “We’ll be able to hold the Eid prayers amidst heavy rains.”
 
The DCC South has arranged 249 congregations, while the DCC North has arranged 180, officials said.

Like every year, the biggest Eid congregation of the country will be held at the Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj on Tuesday. Maulana Farid Uddin Masud will conduct the Eid prayers at 9am.
 
In Chittagong, the main congregation will be held at the Jamiatul Falah Jame Mosque at 7:45am, and another at 8:45am.
 
There will be one congregation at the Baklia City Corporation Stadium at 8am and one at the Laldighi City Corporation Jame Mosque at 7:30am. Another congregation will be held at Jalalabad Arefin Nagar City Corporation Jame Mosque at 8am.
 
The Chittagong City Corporation said a total of 166 congregations will be held at 41 wards.
 
In Khulna, the main prayer will be held at Khulan Circuit House Maidan at 8am. The second congregation will be held at Khulna Town Jame Mosque at 9am.
 
The main congregation in Sylhet will be at the historic Shahi Eidgah at 8am. At the same time, Eid prayers will also be held at the mosques in Hazrat Shahjalal and Hazrat Shah Paran's shrines.
 
The prayers in other Eidgahs and mosques in the city will be held between 7:30am and 9:30am.
 
Collectorate Eidgah Maidan will host the main congregation in Rangpur at 8:30am. The prayers in other Eidgahs and mosques in the city will be held between 8:45am and 10am.
 
Barisal will host the main congregation at Hemayetuddin Central Eidgah Maidan at 8am.
 
But the biggest congregation of the division has been scheduled at Charmonai Darbar Sharif Maidan at 8:30am.
 
The prayers at other mosques and Eidgahs here will be held between 8am and 9:30am.
