Police identify seven of nine 'militants' killed in Kalyanpur operations 

Police have confirmed identities of seven of the nine suspected militants killed in a raid on a house in Dhaka's Kalyanpur on Tuesday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Wednesday said their fingerprints were matched with the National ID database.

The seven have been identified as 'Abdullah' from Dinajpur, 23, Abu Hakim Nayeem, 24, from Patuakhali, Motiur Rahman from Satkhira, Zobayer Hossain, 22, from Noakhali, and Taj-ul-Haque Rashik, 24,  from Dhanmondi, Akifuzzaman Khan, 24, from Gulshan, and Shehzad Rauf Arka from Basundhara in Dhaka.

Of them, Shehzad has a US passport.

The youth, 'missing' since February, had been a friend of dead Gulshan café attacker Nibras Islam.

They had studied at Monash University's Malaysia campus.

Nibras had been staying in Jhenaidah with nine other youths in Jhenaidah.

Police suspect Shehzad had been with Nibras there.

The second person in the combination of photos released by police has been identified as Nayeem, son of one Nurul Islam.

Rashik, the third person, is the son of one Rabiul Haque from Dhanmondi Road No. 11/A in Dhaka.

Afikuzzaman Khan, son of Saifuzzaman Khan, lived in House No. 25, Road No 10 in Gulshan. His photo is the fourth one in the collage.

The sixth photo is of Shehzad.

Police said the seventh person was Motiur Rahman, son of Nasiruddin Sarder from Satkhira.

The eighth person was identified as Zobayer Hossain, son of Abdul Kayum from Noakhali.

The fifth and ninth persons are yet to be identified.

Police released the photos of the dead militants (Parental guidance is advised to see the photo of bloodied bodies) on Tuesday night and sought information on the persons pictured.
