Ten-year-old Sagar Barman was declared dead on Sunday afternoon when taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The family filed the case with the local police the same day, accusing four people, said Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Forkan Shikder.

He said one of the accused, Nazmul Huda, a manager, had been detained on Sunday night.

Police said the boy’s co-workers at the Jabeda Textile and Spinning Factory inserted a high-pressure nozzle through his rectum, filling the abdomen.

Dr Md Firoz of the DMCH, where the boy died, said he had been brought with an abnormally swelled belly.

“He might have died from air filled through his rectum,” he said.

In August last year, a 12-year-old boy was killed in a similar manner at a motor workshop in Khulna by his employer.

Two people have been sentenced to death for the earlier murder.
