He made the suggestion on Sunday while speaking to the media.

“He can form such a cell himself. His office has enough deputy attorneys general and assistant attorneys general,” said the minister.

He said he will speak with Attorney General Mahbubey Alam. “He can form a cell headed by an additional attorney general.”

Following the terror attacks in Dhaka and Kishoreganj earlier this month, the state’s top legal officer Alam floated the idea amidst reports that militants were resuming extremist activities once out on bail.

Alam told reporters on Tuesday, “Once formed, the coordination cell will only review them (militants). This cell will not only function from its office but will also be in constant touch with the attorney general’s office and the offices of the public prosecutors.”

Members of this cell will also have to be adept at using information and communication technology, he added.

He suggested feeding information about the militants after their arrest into ‘something like a data bank’.
