Rescuers salvage child Sabbir’s body from sewer canal at Mirpur
Rescuers have found the body of a four-year-old who had fallen into a sewer canal at Mirpur.

The search stretched to its second day on Friday, when Junaid Hossain Sabbir was found within a garbage dump in the canal near the Dhaka Commerce College.
Divers were sifting through dump when they found the body, around 10:50am, said Fire Service Control Room official Atikur Rahman.
The child lived with his family in one of the huts lining the sewer line. He was reportedly playing next to it around 4pm on Thursday while there was a light drizzle, Rahman had said earlier.
His family, having failed to trace him, assumed he had fallen into the canal. “They looked in nearby places, but failed to find him and called the fire service at 10pm.”
“Fire service officials searched for the child from around 10pm to 3am.”
On Friday, five divers had resumed the operation at 7am.
