A Chittagong court on Monday accepted the plaintiff’s plea to show Aslam arrested on these charges, the BNP leader’s counsel Abdus Sattar told bdnews24.com.
Police arrested Aslam in Dhaka on May 15 and later brought charges of treason accusing him of conspiring to topple the Bangladesh government in collusion with the Israeli spy agency Mossad.
The newly-promoted BNP joint secretary general has been also shown arrested in three violence cases filed with police stations in Dhaka.
Amid heavy security, Aslam was produced before a metropolitan magistrate’s court on Monday.
Chittagong metro police said that cheque frauds with a Pubali Bank branch in the port city involves Tk 360.80 million.
“He had given eight cheques to repay loans taken from the Pubali Bank, which bounced,” said police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Niremalendu Bikash Chakrabarty.
