Huge cache of arms, ammunition found hidden in canal at Uttara
Police have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition at Uttara in Dhaka.

The arms and ammunition were found in seven bags beside the Diabarhi canal in Sector-16 on Saturday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman said.
The haul included 97 pistols, 462 magazines, 1,060 bullets and 10 bayonets and 104 dices for making bullet.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Nurul Alam said the arms and ammunition were good enough for use.
He said a Turag Police Station constable called his station for help when the activities of four to five people with a car made him suspicious.
“We are investigating the matter,” Deputy Commissioner Rahman said in reply to a query on people linked to the cache.
DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said, “We suspect people involved in international conspiracies stashed away the arms, as they felt it would be unsafe to keep them after the recent crackdown.”
Earlier, Fire Service said its divers were searching for arms and ammunition in the canal.
