Clash during UP polls in Brahmanbarhia leaves 30 people injured

As many as 30 people have been injured in Brahmanbarhia after a clash broke out between supporters of two contenders during the Union Parishad (UP) polls.

Police said the clash occurred just after 11am on Saturday outside a voting centre at Suhilpur Union when a house was set to fire.

Local police OC Moinur Rahman said that they had to deploy additional forces in the area to bring the situation under control.

Another similar clash has been reported from Sadekpur Union following which voting had to be stopped for a while.

Clashes have been also reported from Ramrail Union.

Voting has been held at 19 unions in two Upazilas of the district on Saturday in the fifth leg of the six-phase UP polls.
