Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Maruf Hossain Sarder announced the reward on Thursday evening.

He said all six militants were members of banned outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).

Tk 500,000 has been offered for clues leading to the arrest of each of two militants – Shariful aka Sharif aka Saleh aka Arif aka Hadi and Selim aka Iqbal aka Mamun aka Hadi-2.

Tk 200,000 each will be given for information that leads to the arrest of any of the remaining militants.

They are Sifat aka Samir aka Imran, Abdus Samad aka Sujon aka Raju aka Salman aka Sad, Shihab aka Sumon aka Saiful, and Sajjad aka Sajib aka Siam aka Shams.

Police said the Detective Branch was giving ‘high importance’ to the probe into the killing of bloggers, progressive writers and a publisher.

After conducting raids on two ‘militant dens’ at Satarku and Mohammadpur in the capital, detectives came to know that Ansarullah Bangla Team was using the venues as a ‘military training centre’ and a ‘bomb making training centre’.

Police have obtained information about two other ABT dens -- Ashkona and Dakkhin Khan -- in Dhaka from them.

“Information about the six ABT operatives was also found,” said Maruf.

Police said they were involved in the murder of writers, bloggers and right activists, including Avijit Roy and Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy.
