Prime minister of Kuwait starts three-day Dhaka visit

Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has arrived in Dhaka on a three-day official visit.

A special plane carrying him and his entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport a little after 5pm on Tuesday.

Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Oil and Finance Minister Anas Khaled Al-Saleh, Education Minister Bader Hamad-Al-Essa are some of the high officials accompanying Sheikh Jaber.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the Kuwaiti premier at the airport.

She was accompanied by Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc (???), Hasina’s Energy Advisor Towfique-e-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid Bipu, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam, along with other high officials.

Sheikh Jaber was also given a red carpet reception and a guard of honour there.

Later, the Kuwaiti delegation was taken to Hotel Le Meridien in the capital where they will be staying during the visit, which is a part of a tour to five South and Southeast Asian countries.

Over the next three days, Sheikh Jaber will meet President Md Abdul Hamid and attend a bilateral meeting with Hasina.

The Kuwaiti prime minister is also scheduled to attend a banquet hosted by his counterpart.

Three deals on investment, military cooperation, and ‘visa exemption’ are supposed to be signed during the trip, says the foreign ministry.
 
Sheikh Jaber will pay tribute to the Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial at Savar on Wednesday.
 
He will also visit Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi, Road no. 32.
 
The Kuwaiti prime minister will leave Dhaka on Thursday afternoon, according to the foreign ministry.
