Metropolitan Magistrate SM Masud Zaman ordered Rehman into jail on Wednesday.

He was not produced before the court and kept in the court detention centre during the hearing.

He was taken to Dhaka Central Jail from the court and then transferred to Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.

Another accused in the case, daily Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman has also been detained there, pending trial.

The court has ordered the jail authorities to give Rehman, an octogenarian, first-class status and provide him with necessary treatment following the defence lawyers’ petition.
