UK saddened by recent spate of killings in Bangladesh, demands perpetrators’ arrest

UK’s Minister of State at the Foreign and Common Wealth Office Hugo Swire has demanded that the perpetrators of the recent murders in Bangladesh be brought to justice.

“Deeply saddened by the senseless murders of Prof. Karim, Tanay Fahim & Xulhaz Mannan in #Bangladesh. The killers must be brought to justice,” he tweeted.

A Professor of English at Rajshahi University AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee was hacked to death by assailants near his residence on Saturday morning.

Unknown assailants killed Xulhaz Mannan, who was a locally hired employee of the US embassy, along with his friend Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy inside his Dhaka residence. The assailants entered the house posing as courier boys.

Xulhaz was an LGBT rights activist.
