He told journalists on Friday, “It is not right to think that the trial in the murder case will not be held. We’re trying to unearth the murder mystery through proper investigation.”

The bodies of Maasranga TV News Editor Sarowar and ATN Bangladesh Senior Correspondent Runi were discovered in their rented house at Dhaka’s West Rajabazar on Feb 11, 2012.

The autopsy report said ‘non-professional killers’ had bludgeoned them to death.

The then home minister Sahara Khatun, within hours of the incident in 2012, had famously promised to have the culprits caught within 48 hours.

Nine months after Khatun’s assurance, her successor Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir claimed a major breakthrough in the case at a press conference following the arrest of a few persons.
The investigating agency, RAB, has been submitting progress reports on the investigation every month following a court directive.
But nothing substantive has emerged so far.
Kamal faced questions on the sensational murder at an event in Dhaka on Friday, a day following the fourth anniversary of the couple’s murder.
He said, “The honourable High Court is overseeing it (the case)... We are hopeful of unearthing the mystery.”
To a question about RAB maintaining silence on the murder investigation, he said, “Maybe RAB wants to divulge everything after the completion of the probe.”
