FM Mahmood Ali pays final respects to former PM Sushil Koirala

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali has paid last respects to former Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on behalf of Bangladesh.

The foreign ministry said he had flown to Kathmandu on Wednesday morning.

Koirala, who was also the president of the Nepali Congress (NC), passed away on Tuesday at the age of 77. 
 

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a condolence message termed Koirala as a “pre-eminent” leader of the region and said Bangladesh was proud to have honoured him as a ‘Friend of Bangladesh’ in recognition and appreciation of his role in its 1971 War of Independence.
The prime minister also recalled his leadership and said his death would be a loss to the South Asia region.
