Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Assistant General Manager Syed Abul Kalam Azad said, the steamer PS Mahsud got stuck in Chorkawa area of Kirtonkhola around 6 am on Sunday.
He said the steamer left Dhaka on Saturday night and headed for Barisal via Muralgonj.
“Still 70 passengers have been stuck in the steamer at Muralgonj, the others have left by boat and trawler.
Abul Kalam Azad said the passengers were unharmed and a tug ship would bring the steamer to port once the river flows normally.
