He claims he is a ‘victim of conspiracy’ and says he will track down those behind it.
The ruling MP was addressing a media conference at the World Trade Center in the port city to mark the 100th anniversary of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Pro-government students and youths have filed two cases against him demanding Tk 10 billion in damages for defaming the Bangabandhu.
“A group has been harassing me since I got the Awami League’s ticket. Through this (distortion), they have insulted the Awami League family,” Latif said.
He said the allegation brought against him was false. “No one in his right frame of mind would commit such a despicable act,” he said.
He also said he had discussed the issue with party seniors who, he says, do not believe he was involved in it.
“They have asked me to find out quickly who did this. And I will do so,” the MP said.
