A media statement carrying the list said on Sunday some teachers had been been terminated as they did not rejoin at the end of an educational leave while many others simply resigned.

But they did not pay the dues despite several reminders in writing, it said.

They have been remanded again following a Syndicate decision, the statement added.

The dues now amount to over Tk 43,866,000 with interest, according to the statement.

It said the Syndicate has decided to charge interest until the dues are paid.

According to the statement, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has the maximum number of teachers with dues -- ten of them.

The computer science department is second with five such teachers.

The English and chemistry departments and the Institute of Health Economics have four.

The Bangla department’s former associate professor Aminur Rahman topped the list of teachers with dues individually. The ex-teacher owes the university over Tk 3.8 million.

The electrical and electronic engineering department’s former lecturer Sheikh Mohammad Ali has the second highest amount of dues – over Tk 3 million.
