The factory where the medicines were being prepared was also sealed in a joint raid by police and the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) on Sunday.

AHM Najirul Haque is a zonal manager of the Chittagong City Corporation’s immunisation programme, and his wife Jannatul Mawa is a doctor at the Mostafa Hakim Maternity Hospital at the city’s Uttar Kattali.

They were held from their ‘Lexicon Pharmaceutical’ factory at Uttar Kattali’s Munshipara at Paharhtoli.

Three more persons-- Abdul Zalil, Al Amin, and Ruhul Amin – were also detained from the unauthorised factory.

The couple produced a Drug Administration certificate to prove their bona fides.

“But the certificate was forged,” said DGDA official KM Muhsinin Mahbub, who was part of the raiding team.
