Jamaat launches two-day protest including Monday strike
The Jamaat-e-Islami has called a shutdown across Bangladesh for Monday to protest the execution of its secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, hanged for 1971 war crimes.

He was hanged to death on Sunday at 12.55am for the atrocities he had committed during the war of independence.
Jamaat, in a statement after the execution, said that they had launched a two-day programme to protest the “murder”.
On Sunday they will offer funeral prayers in absentia and on Monday they will enforce a general strike.
The party said its leader was deprived of “justice” and the government executed him out of “political vengeance”.
Dhaka Central Jail authorities said they had executed Mujahid along with BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury at 12.55am early Sunday morning.
