EC moves Supreme Court for a stay on Kader Siddiqui's nomination order

The Election Commission has moved the Supreme Court for a stay on a previous order give by the High Court that validated Abdul Kader Siddique’s nomination for the Tangail-4 by-polls.

Md Yasin Khan, who filed the plea on Monday for the EC, told bdnews24.com the chamber judge might hear the petition on Tuesday.
 
Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) chief Siddique’s nomination was initially scrapped over loan default charges but the High Court on Oct 21 ordered the EC to accept his candidacy for the Nov 10 by-election.
 
Decorated freedom fighter Siddique had alleged there were ‘conspiracies’ behind cancellation of his nomination.
 
The Tangail-4 constituency fell vacant after his elder brother and former minister Abdul Latif Siddique resigned last month.
 
Kader Siddique has already started campaigning.
