Tajud Khan was arrested on Thursday in Netrokona, but police brought him to the DMCH after he fell ill.
Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Niranjan Kumar Das and Constable Masud Rana were in charge of Khan while he was at the hospital.
“We took the suspect to the toilet around 7 in the morning. He was then walking around in the hospital ward, from where he managed to escape,” Das told bdnews24.com.
The suspect was not in handcuffs, said the police officer admitting he ‘forgot’ to bring one. “My superiors did not spell out he was a murder suspect. They just said that he was ‘dangerous’.”
Khan is accused of murdering one ‘Tuhin’ in Netrokona’s Aatparha over a feud on ownership of a lake, Aatparha police OC Faruk Ahmed told bdnews24.com.
