“They will be staying in Baridhara and Gulshan and will patrol the area if necessary,” BGB director general’s PRO Mohsin Reza told bdnews24.com on Saturday night.

An Italian was gunned down in the diplomatic zone on Sep 28, five days later a Japanese national was killed in similar fashion in Rangpur.

Security for foreigners was ratcheted up after the killings as several countries asked their nationals to restrict their movements while in Bangladesh.

The government has rejected reports of Islamic State claiming responsibilities for the killings.

Last week, the government assured diplomats of ‘special security’ measures for foreigners.

It also ordered police superintendents and OCs to pay special attention to foreigners’ security across the country.

In an updated travel advisory on Friday, the UK said it feared ‘indiscriminate’ attacks on Westerners.
