RAB mobile court fines ‘Agora’, ‘Shwapno’ Tk 500,000

The government has fined chain shops ‘Agora’ and ‘Shwapno’ Tk 500,000 for keeping at their Uttara outlets goods that lacked government certification.

A RAB mobile court slapped the fines during a drive on Thursday.

Executive Magistrate Fazlul Haq said they found a number of toiletry commodities that had no government clearance.

“They could not produce documents for these items,” he told bdnews24.com.

The outlet’s official Didarul Islam admitted before the media that the products lacked BSTI approval.

“I don’t look the stocking of such products at this outlet,” he added.

Magistrate Haq said they fined the Rahimafrooz subsidiary’s Jashimuddin Road outlet Tk 300,000.

At Shwapno’s Azampur outlet, the mobile court found food items and toiletries that bore no mark of BSTI approval.

Haq said the shop was fined Tk 200,000.
