The woman was dragged out of her house and beaten up in public on Monday by the village chief.

Police have arrested the housewife’s brother who allegedly instigated the village chief.

Hossain Khan was arrested on Wednesday from Savar, said police.

“He was picked up from Ashulia on a tip-off and is now being interrogated,” said Gazipur’s Kaliakor police Sub Inspector Md Mizanur Rahman.

On Monday, the Latifpur Village’s local chief Jalal Uddin beat up the woman with a stick after dragging her by the hair out of her house.

Hossain Khan, who was arrested on Wednesday, handed the stick to Jalal Uddin and provoked him to beat up his sister.

The tortured woman’s family said she had a feud with her brother and sister over land.

The woman had to be treated at the local hospital for the injuries she suffered.

On Monday night, the victim filed a case with Kaliakoir police accusing her brother, sister and the village chief.

Police said the three had been absconding since the incident.
