Hospital Director Prof Dr Uttam Kumar Barua said the students had been told to vacate the residential halls by Sunday afternoon.

Two cultural fronts had clashed around noon over helping those seeking admission.

“We shut the college indefinitely as the situation went out of control,” he said.

Barua, however, said the admission process and hospital services would not be hampered.

Bangladesh Medical Association’s college unit Organising Secretary Barua denounced the possible involvement of any political party in the clash.

“Several students were injured in the clash between cultural organisations ‘The Beats’ and ‘Sphuron’,” he said, replying to a question. “One of them has been admitted to hospital.”

Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station OC Ganesh Gopal Biswas said the situation was under control.
