2 soldiers die, 3 injured as army car loses control, crashes in Cox’s Bazar

Two army soldiers have died when the car they were travelling in lost control and crashed at Chakaria Upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

The incident that took place on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong Highway at Khutakhali at around 8pm on Sunday also left three soldiers injured, said Chakaria Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Masud Hossain.
 
The deceased were identified as soldiers Shafiqur Rahman, 30, and Naimuddin, 31. Both of them were members of the Bangladesh Army’s 10th Infantry Division.
 
They died on the spot, he added.
 
Identities of the injured troopers were not immediately available. They were admitted at Malumghat Christian Memorial Hospital in the Upazila.
 
The driver was in critical condition, Hossain Added.
 

The ASP said the car was on way from Dhaka to Ramu when the driver lost control, hit a tree first, and then rammed into the wall of a community centre beside the road in Khutakhali.
The car overturned after the crash and led to the casualties, he added.
