Police found almost 500 copies of ‘Chandni Raater Premika’ – a collection of 58 jihadist poems, during a raid around noon on Thursday.

Md Lokman, Jamaat-e-Islami’s vice president for Jamalpur Ward-4, is the owner of Kashful Offset Printing Press in the Jamalpur’s Station Road area.

Lokman has been absconding ever since the raid, said Jamalpur Superintendant of Police (SP) Md Nizam Uddin at a press conference.

The title ‘Chandni Raater Premika’ roughly translates to ‘Lady Lover of a Moonlit Night’. The sexually charged title appears to be in conflict with the extremist claim about their rejection of so-called ‘unabashed’ women.

“The book was written to confuse ordinary people and inspire Jamaat and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir’s leaders and activists,” said SP Nizam Uddin.
“Besides the books, police have also seized the press machines.”
Those nabbed from the press are manager Md Obaidullah Fulu, 58, worker Md Sifat, 20, Md Kajal, 25, Md Ziaul Huq Zia, 25, Md Abdul Alim, 35, Md Al Mamun, 28, Md Jahurul Islam, 27 and Jahangir Alam, 25.
