British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert Gibson has become the new Dean of Diplomatic Corps in Bangladesh.

He took charge from his predecessor Palestinian Ambassador Shaher Mohammad, who is leaving Dhaka, on Tuesday.
“Honoured today to become Doyen of the #Diplomatic Corps in #Bangladesh. Respect for my predecessor,” Gibson tweeted.
The longest serving diplomat becomes the Dean or doyen of the diplomatic corps in Dhaka.
The duties are chiefly ceremonial in nature.
Gibson presented his credentials in October, 2011.
