Rajan murder: Ayaj Ali in three-day remand

A Sylhet court has granted police three days to interrogate one Ayaj Ali over the murder of 13-year-old Samiul Alam Rajan.

Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Shahedul Karim granted the remand on Saturday.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Assistant Commissioner (Prosecution), Abdul Ahad said the case investigator, Detective Branch Inspector Suranjit Talukder pleaded seven days for questioning Ali.
   
Ali, 45, was held early on Saturday from Kumargaon’s Sheikhparha.
   
Inspector Talukder said he was nabbed based on information provided by other people arrested in the case.
   
On July 8, Rajan was beaten to death on suspicion of theft at Kumargaon village in Sylhet.
   
The brutality of the assault was filmed and posted on Facebook, igniting uproar.
