Former minister Latif Siddique freed on bail in cases for ‘hurting religious sensitivities’
Former telecoms minister Adbul Latif Siddique has been released from jail after securing bails in several cases that accuse him of ‘hurting religious sentiment’.

Dhaka Central Jail’s Senior Superintendent Farman Ali told bdnews24.com that the former Awami League presidium member was released from the prison cell of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
He left the cell around 4:45pm on Monday.
In September last year, Latif Siddique allegedly made derogatory remarks on Hajj while speaking at a programme in New York.
Following the incident, dozens of cases were filed against him in different courts across Bangladesh.
Apart from being sacked from the Cabinet, he also lost his Awami League membership following the remarks.
On Nov 23, 2014, Siddique returned to Bangladesh.
The next day, he surrendered before a court that sent him to prison.
