Thirty-nine pre-primary level students have been studying at the institute, operated by Jaago Foundation with the assistance of mobile-phone operator Grameenphone, for the last six months.
The school at Kankarparha under Teknaf Upazila is the tenth of its kind.
A total of 690 students are studying in the 10 schools set up throughout the country to offer quality education to underprivileged children.
The bdnews24.com correspondent visited the Kankarparha school, and spoke to the students and guardians.
Swapna Shil of the bordering Upazila is very happy to get the opportunity to enrol her son Gobinda Shil at an English-medium institution.
“My eldest daughter is studying at an NGO-run school. But this school is far better than that. My son has learned a lot in the last six months,” she said.
Jaago Foundation’s Nadi Rashid told journalists: “Our curriculum is very rich. But that doesn’t reach the underprivileged students all the time.”
Grameenphone’s Corporate Responsibility Division specialist Hafizur Rahman Khan said they had piloted the internet-based English version school at Gazipur in 2011.
Encouraged by the success of the pilot project, they have already established 10 such schools.
Rashid said 40 students were enrolled in every class and they had plans to open classes up to 12th grade.
Agni Systems is offering technical assistance to run the institutions.
